Cube pricing (2026): plans, benchmarks and the AI-credit fine print

Cube is the cheapest quote-only FP&A platform we benchmark. Here's what the third-party data says buyers pay, what each tier actually unlocks, and where usage-based costs hide.

Not to be confused with cube.dev, the unrelated semantic-layer company. This page covers Cube Software (cubesoftware.com).

1. The short answer

Cube doesn't publish prices. Vendr's buyer data puts the median at $22,098 a year, across 58 purchases, with a range of $12,794 to $34,200 [1]. That's about two-thirds of the Datarails ($33,300) and Vena ($34,286) medians [4][5]. Buyers in Vendr's data saved 22% on average versus the first quote [1] — more than double the 10% Vendr reports for Pigment and Anaplan [6][7]. Read that as: the first number you see has room in it.

2. What each plan unlocks

Cube publishes three tiers — Bronze, Silver and Gold — all quote-based. The tiers differ by scale and surfaces, not core platform [2]:

Source: Cube pricing page [2], checked Oct 19, 2026. Teams with 50+ entities or more than 1TB of data are routed to "Strategic" plans, scoped by quote.

Two things stand out for a finance buyer. First, unlimited users on every plan [2] — you won't pay a seat tax to give budget owners access. Second, the entity cap is the real pricing lever: a group with 11 legal entities is a Gold conversation, regardless of how small the finance team is.

3. The AI line: included agents, metered connector

Cube says its AI agents are included in every plan [2]. The MCP connector — the piece that lets Claude or ChatGPT query and write to your Cube data — is different:

  • Tier-gated. "MCP & headless deployment" is Silver and Gold only [2].
  • Metered. "Data calls and writes use your company's AI credits," drawn from a shared company pool [3]. If the pool runs dry, the AI reports that your company "has run out of Cube AI credits" [3]. Credit prices aren't on the pricing page.
  • Write access is a permission, not a default. Users need "Use MCP (Write)" to write back, and scenarios must be opened for AI write-back [3].
  • Assistant plan requirements. Cube's docs say ChatGPT connectors need Plus, Pro, Team, Business, Enterprise or Edu, and that Claude availability depends on your Claude plan [3].
Budget the run-rate, not just the license. A metered connector turns AI usage into a variable cost. Ask Cube for the credit price, the credits included with your tier, and what a typical monthly close consumes. Get the overage rate in the order form.

4. What buyers report at signing and renewal

Vendr publishes anonymized comments from Cube buyers (all from companies with 201–1,000 employees). They're anecdotes, not benchmarks, but they're specific [1]:

  • Usage-based contracts. "Cube contracts are based on compute & the volume of use of the product," with no rollover of unused units and a higher rate for overages.
  • Renewal uplifts happen. One buyer reports Cube proposed a ~50% renewal increase, negotiated down to ~20% for 12 months. Another turned a 10% uplift into a flat renewal.
  • Implementation is negotiable. One buyer got a $10,000 implementation fee waived for signing by month-end.
  • Levers that worked: multi-year terms (including a rate lock against overages), higher volume commitments, and closing quickly.

5. Negotiation checklist

  1. Anchor on the Vendr median ($22,098) and the 22% average discount [1].
  2. Count legal entities before the call. That number picks your tier.
  3. If you want Claude or ChatGPT on your Cube data, price Silver, plus AI credits, plus the assistant seats.
  4. Ask for the compute/usage unit definition, overage rate and whether unused units roll over.
  5. Cap the renewal uplift in writing. Buyers have seen proposals of ~50% [1].

FAQ

How much does Cube cost?

Cube is quote-only. Vendr reports a median of $22,098 per year across 58 purchases, with a low–high range of $12,794 to $34,200 and average savings of 22% versus initial quotes.

Does Cube charge per user?

No. Cube's pricing page says every plan includes unlimited users, dimensions and dashboards. Plans scale by legal entities (1, up to 10, up to 50) and features, and Vendr buyer comments describe contracts based on compute and volume of use.

Is the Cube MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT included?

Only on Silver and Gold. Cube's pricing table lists "MCP & headless deployment" as not available on Bronze. Every MCP data call and write also consumes your company's Cube AI credits, per Cube's help center.

What are Cube add-ons?

Cube lists Premium Support+, Additional Modules and API Access as add-ons available with any plan, and multicurrency consolidation as an add-on on Bronze and Silver (included on Gold). Add-on prices are not published.
