How to choose
- Still need connected planning across sales, supply chain and workforce? Pigment is the realistic swap. Run both through the same model-build exercise.
- Finance-only budgeting and forecasting? Planful, Vena, Datarails and Cube all have medians a third or less of Anaplan's. Vena and Datarails keep Excel as the front end.
- AI is a deciding factor? Anaplan's own AI Gateway is read-only to start and names Claude and Microsoft Copilot [8]. Cube and Pigment are the only planning tools here that document AI write-back, both behind explicit permissions [9][11].
When to stay on Anaplan
If you have mature models, trained model builders and cross-functional users, migration risk often outweighs the license savings. Use the benchmarks above to negotiate your renewal instead.
